Job descriptionManages and directs staff in the planning, development, maintenance, and support of the I.T. infrastructure, including long range planning and budgeting. Primary areas of responsibility include management of Data Center Services (in-house, outsourced, or cloud), hardware and software services, systems administration, database administration, and enterprise job scheduling across the Americas. Collaboration across all areas of I.T. Epson senior management, and Vendor management for contracts, SLA’s and performance management.Typical Duties and Responsibilities:· Supervises technical staff and vendors responsible for system and database administration, and enterprise job scheduling; assigns and coordinates work assignments and resolution of critical technical and procedural problems· Develops and implements strategic and tactical plans to facilitate and coordinate the delivery of technical services and support· Ensures acceptable levels of performance for I.T. systems to meet business requirements; involves a high degree of technical knowledge and effective management procedures within the Technical Services team· Ensures high availability of host computers and database resources· Conducts capacity planning; develops procedures to measure the capacity for systems and applications relative to current and future activities; coordinates the acquisition and implementation of additional resources· Assures that software and firmware is at current revision levels, works with vendors and team to request and schedule upgrades· Creates and maintains technical and operational documentation· Manages institutional budgeting and purchasing activities for technology procurement, works with Finance and I.T. staff to coordinate the ordering, receiving, and payment activities related to the acquisition of new technology· Develops plans, procedures, and activities to support business recovery when problems occur including backup and restoration procedures, vendor agreements, spare parts, data retention, and restoration planning· Responsible for development and coordination of Technical Service planning of the Epson disaster recovery plan and associated annual testing· Works with the Finance and Legal departments to negotiate vendor contract Terms and Conditions (T&C's); Service Level Agreement (SLA), and payment structure· Data Center management for both internal and hosted data center services· Effective management of the change control process aligned with policies and procedures· Team building and performance management· Requirements:· Bachelor's degree in a job related discipline; other equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered· 2 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in supporting/managing complex networked systems and an enterprise data center; at least two years of technical experience must have been in a supervisory or management capacityKnowledge of:· Data Center Operations (in-house, cloud and hosted models)· UNIX, Windows, and Linux servers and operating systems· Budget and other financial documents and processes to maximize department resources and maintain control over expenditures· Principles and practices of effective management and supervision.· Vendor contract and SLA managementAbility to:· Manage data center hosting and cloud vendors· Manage planning and execution of large complex projects and teams· Manage tracking and reporting across the Technical services portfolio· Manage institutional budgeting and purchasing activities for technology procurement· Develop and recommend strategic and tactical roadmap plans for the delivery of technical services and support· Communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing· Analyze and problem solve a variety of highly technical issues· Effectively negotiate/influence others· Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel at all levelsFull-timeJob FunctionsVery important:1.
