Application number: F00075XXXX
Dear permanent residence applicant:
You are receiving this email because our records at Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) indicate that:
·Your permanent residence (PR) application was previously approved.
·The issuance date on the Confirmation of Permanent Residence (CoPR) document that was sent to you (and your family members, if applicable) was after March 18, 2020.
·You (and your family members, if applicable) have not become (a) permanent resident(s) of Canada yet.
·The validity date on your CoPR(s) (i.e. the date by which you needed to use it to become a permanent resident/to travel to Canada)has passed, meaning your PR visa(s) is/are expired.
·Any previous immigration medical examination (IME)results for you (and/or your family member(s)) have also expired. Other documents or information you previously provided may also be expired or out of date.
When your PR application was approved you were issued a PR visa (including a CoPR and, if you are a citizen of a visa required country, a visa counterfoil sticker in your passport). PR visa holders are required to travel to Canada to become permanent residents before the expiry date on the CoPR document. Once a CoPR expires, applicants are normally required to submit a new application if they still want to immigrate to Canada.
However, on an exceptional basis in response to theCOVID-19 pandemic, IRCC has made various efforts to assist clients who, due to the pandemic, were not able to use their CoPRs before they expired:
·Until December 2020, it was possible for clients with expired or expiring CoPRs to contact IRCC to request assistance if they were ready to travel to Canada right away.
·IRCC may also have contacted you by email to ask whether you and your dependants (if applicable) were willing and ready to travel to Canada.
Your Application
Since your CoPR(s)expired without being used, you do not currently have a valid PR visa and your application is closed.
However, if you confirm that you are still interested in immigrating to Canada, IRCC will do the following on a one-time exceptional basis:
·Reopen and review your application to determine whether any additional or updated documents are needed to confirm that you (andyour family members, if applicable) still meet the statutory requirements for(a) permanent resident visa(s).
·Send you new medical forms and instructions, and also a request letter if we require more information or updated documents (e.g. valid passport(s), updated police certificate(s), updated screening form(s).
·Review your application to confirm whether you still meet the requirements for a PR visa.
·If you still meet the requirements: re-issue your PR visa(s).
Note: If you request that we reopen and re-assess your application, IRCC must determine whether you continue to meet the requirements to be issued a Permanent Resident Visa. If you, or your family member(s) do not now meet those requirements (e.g. you are now inadmissible to Canada), your application could be refused.
Information About Validity Date of Re-issued Visas
If we confirm that you still meet the requirements for a PR visa and re-issue your documents, you will receive correspondence confirming whether you need to submit your passport(s) to receive new printed documents (e.g. CoPR, visa sticker).
Once issued:
·The new expiry date of your PR Visa(s) will reflect your new medical validity (12 months from the date of your medical examination).
·The validity date for your visa cannot extend past your passport expiry date. This means that if your passport is expiring within the next 12 months, it may affect your visa validity.
·You will be able to use your re-issued PR Visa(s) to travel to Canada to become a permanent resident any time before the new expiry date.
·You must ensure that you comply with any health and travel restrictions that are in effect when you travel.
Note: If you are informed that your PR visa is ready for re-issuance and we ask you to submit your passport, but you can’t because the Visa Application Centre (VAC)and/or migration office serving your area is closed, you can submit your passport as soon as services resume. Note Regarding Travel Arrangements
·Please note that you should not purchase a plane ticket at this time.
·Do not make any plans to travel or incur any costs until you have received a replacement visa.
Once you receive a replacement visa, you should confirm that you comply with any travel requirements including health requirements before you travel.
Please note that under the current travel restrictions:
·Pre-departure COVID-19 testing requirements and health checks are in effect.
·When you arrive in Canada, you will have to comply with testing and quarantine requirements established by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).
·When you travel with your permanent resident visa, you must be intending to settle and live in Canada as a permanent resident. (If you intend to just visit, you aren’t currently exempt from the restrictions on entry even where you hold valid permanent resident visa.)
Restrictions can change on short notice. Please review the most recent information about requirements for entering Canada at: http://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/flying-canada-checklist
Action needed:
Your action is required now if you and your family members (if applicable) are still interested in immigrating to Canada.
If you would like us to reopen and reassess your application, please reply to this email at [email protected] before August 13, 2021 and answer the questions using the response letter template below. If you do not reply before August 13, 2021, a note to will be added to your application to confirm that you were contacted but that we did not receive a response.
When you reply, please DO NOT change the subject line of the e-mail. If you change the subject line, it may take longer to review your reply.
After responding, wait for further instructions from us before redoing your medical examination. Wait for us to send you the necessary medical form(s).
Once we have sent you the forms, you will have 30days to do your medical. Advise us by email that it has been done, and provide any additional documents that we may have requested. Please note that the results of your new medical examination are valid for 12 months.
Important: Do not do an up-front medical examination. Completing a new medical examination before IRCC asks you to will delay processing, and may lead to you spending more money to do a new one later on.
If you cannot do your medical or get specific documents within 30 days due to COVID-19 restrictions (for example, if you cannot obtain a medical appointment in time), please inform us.
Sincerely,
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
