As of January 31, 2008, the United States is requiring all travellers to present documents to enter the U.S. These documents must be one of the following:A government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's licence, PLUS a birth certificate or citizenship card; orA valid passport; orA NEXUS or a Free and Secure Trade (FAST) card; orAn enhanced driver's licence; orA Certificate of Indian Status (CIS) card; orFor those 18 and under, only a birth certificate.U.S. Customs and Border Protection will begin transitioning to the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative secure document requirement on January 31, 2008, with full implementation in place no earlier than June 1, 2009.
