Top Ten Most Expensive Cars to Insure Insurance companies rate cars based on their claims history. They look at things like accident frequency, repair costs, theft, vandalism and safety ratings for each make and model. The more money insurance companies have to pay in claims for a particular car, the more expensive that car is to insure.
