Photo submittedA long-time local dentist and father of a Richmond RCMP officer killed in the line of duty has passed away.Dr. Chris Ng was found at his Saltspring Island retirement home on June 17. It is believed he suffered injuries while clearing trees on the property a few weeks prior. He was 75.His son, Const. Jimmy Ng, was killed when his cruiser was broadsided in 2002 by another car running a red light in Richmond. The driver was sentenced to 18 months in jail for criminal negligence causing death and an additional six months for leaving the scene of an accident.Staff Sgt. Major John Buis, a watch commander at the Richmond RCMP detachment when Const. Ng died, got to know Chris Ng in the years following his son’s death.
