据河滨县（Riverside）地方检察官办公室称，突击搜查是在靠近第16大道（16th Avenue）和印度峡谷大道（Indian Canyon Drive）的偏远的非法人区域展开的。是由地方检察官办公室领导的河滨县大麻管制工作组进行的。

检察官在一份书面声明中说：“此前加利福尼亚州公路巡逻机在飞越该区域时，在几个总面积约6英亩的小块土地上发现了非法种植的大麻。”
检察官办公室称，54岁的罗纳德·大卫·巴雷特(Ronald David Barrett)和43岁的何塞·曼努埃尔·梅卡多·贝尔特兰(Jose Manuel Mercado Beltran)在现场被发现，并因涉嫌种植大麻被捕。两人都被认为住在该大麻种植地点。
据河滨县的逮捕记录显示，两人都有轻罪记录。
