Business Elio PachecoPresident and General Manager, Evian North AmericaBusiness Administration, George Brown College Elio Pacheco was appointed President and General Manager of Evian North America in January 2007. His strong entrepreneurial spirit coupled with strategic, creative insight has helped Pacheco successfully develop and retool business models during his 14 years with Group Danone. He has accumulated a wealth of experience and knowledge in the North American CPG environment and has a proven track record of managing and leading brands in highly competitive categories. Pacheco is expected to bring an immediate positive influence on the North American Evian business. Pacheco joined Group Danone in 1993 after five successful years with the Canadian arm of the American Management Association, where he held various positions, including Director of Operations. During his time with AMA, Pacheco attended more than 120 business training programs across all major business disciplines over the course of five years, which prepared him for his role managing an international brand. Anthony LongoPresident and CEO, Longo Brothers Fruit Markets Inc.Business, Humber College After graduating from Humber, Anthony Longo worked full-time in the family grocery store business and opened his first store shortly after graduation. Longo was instrumental in the expansion of stores and the development of an infrastructure, growing the chain from two stores in 1982 to 16 in 2008. He believes in being proactive by investing in the future, and started “Longo College” in order to offer employees the opportunity to become better retailers. Longo's was chosen as one of “50 Best Managed Companies in Canada”, a ranking awarded each year since 2000. Anne Marie DeCicco-BestMayor of London, OntarioJournalism ? Broadcast, Fanshawe College Anne Marie DeCicco-Best is the 60th Mayor of the City of London, Canada's 10th largest city. Now in her third term, she will be the longest-serving Mayor in London's history by the end of her current term in 2010. In 1999, she was honoured with a Distinguished Alumni Award by Fanshawe College, and was nominated for the Ontario Premier's Award. Health Sciences Stephen HarwoodManager of Cardiopulmonary Specialties and Coordinator of Mechanical Circulatory Assistance, University Health Network Nursing, George Brown College Leading the country's largest Cardiovascular Perfusion department, Harwood oversees all aspects of the department's role in providing complete extracorporeal circulatory support to patients undergoing cardiovascular, vascular, transplant, thoracic and general surgical procedures and is responsible for an annual budget of more than $7.5 million. Harwood is also actively involved in groundbreaking research in myocardial preservation and protective strategies for lung transplant patients. A member of the Medical Advisory Board for the Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion and a past Director of the Ontario Society of Clinical Perfusion, Harwood has published a number of articles in medical journals and has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally and is a part-time lecturer in Cardiovascular Perfusion at the Michener Institute in Toronto. Harwood owns a medical consulting business, providing clinical analysis and representation of highly specialized medical devices. Harwood gained extensive media and medical recognition for his key role in a North American first when TGH used the Novalung, an external, artificial lung to keep a patient alive until donor organs became available for transplant. Frequently invited to speak and lecture at conferences locally, nationally and internationally, Harwood was invited in September 2006 to be the keynote speaker at a major cardiovascular conference in Japan. He says this was a particular honour because it is unusual for the Japanese medical community to ask a non-Japanese professional to be a keynote speaker. Martin McNamaraER Physician, Huronia District HospitalHumber College Since his graduation from Humber College in 1977, Martin McNamara has dedicated almost 25 years to the advancement of pre-hospital emergency care. Now an ER physician with Huronia District Hospital, McNamara entered the field as an Ambulance and Emergency Care program grad hired by Orillia and District Ambulance Service in 1977. Only the 68th person in the province to receive his EMCA (Emergency Medical Care Attendant) designation, he was among the first class of the developing Ontario Air Ambulance Program. As an EMCA, McNamara spent many off-duty hours mapping over 900 square miles to provide emergency routes for ambulance, fire department and OPP use and launched a program to equip every ambulance with teddy bears for injured children. Patrick LefaivreParamedic, City of Ottawa's Paramedic ServicesParamedic Training Program, La Cité collégiale 2003 Patrick Lefaivre is no ordinary paramedic. Employed by the City of Ottawa's Paramedic Services since 2003, he has been very successful in the field of pre-hospital services (ambulance services). But his talents as a strong communicator have taken him in unusual directions, namely research and prevention. For example, soon after obtaining his certification, Patrick travelled to Lebanon to help set up an ambulance services program at Makassed University of Beirut and train ambulance personnel. To say the least, and to this day, this experience has had an enormous impact on the way he sees the world today. Patrick also joined a multidisciplinary research team to study the treatment of injuries and cardiac arrests, and he has spoken on these topics at a number of conferences in national and international forums, alongside leading medical experts. He also regularly visits schools to promote his profession and encourage prevention, and he runs CPR clinics for groups of retirees. Information Arts Cheryl Anne HickeyHost of Entertainment Tonight, Global TVJournalism ? Broadcast, Fanshawe College Cheryl Hickey is one of the most recognizable faces of the Canadian entertainment news business, regularly interviewing today's A-list entertainment stars. In addition to hosting Global's wildly popular Entertainment Tonight Canada show, she has hosted the Toronto International Film Festival and produced a documentary special. She has also volunteered her talent to help animals and children through various charitable organizations, such as the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation. Erin DavisCo-host, 98.1 CHFI Morning Show (Toronto)Radio Broadcasting, Loyalist College Erin Davis is a 1982 graduate of Loyalist College's Radio Broadcasting program. A prominent name on the Canadian radio landscape for over 20 years, she co-hosted the morning show on 98.1 CHFI in Toronto for 15 years before hosting her own live national television talk show, “W Live with Erin Davis”, for two years. In the fall of 2004, she returned to CHFI, and the station is once again in the number one position. In 2002, she was named the year's first Chatelaine Woman of Influence. In 2006, she was Grand Marshal of the Toronto St. Patrick's Day Parade and was named Woman of the Year for the Greater Toronto Area by the Consumers Choice Awards. His credits include /Stuart Little 1/ & /2/, /Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Hollow Man, Jurassic Park/ and /The Flintstones/. In 2002 Eric received an Academy Award for his animated short film, /The Chubb Chubbs/. Christine CushingChef, author, TV hostFood and Beverage Management, George Brown College Christine Cushing is one of the trailblazers of food Network with an eight?year stint as a t.v. chef. The only chef ? in Canada? to host a live to air program, she was the dynamic host of Christine Cushing live ? the flagship show- for 4 seasons . She has hosted and cooked along side many of the world's top chefs ? from Tom Colicchio and Anthony Bourdain to Eric Ripert , Jamie Oliver and Martin Yan. She is an award winning author with three best selling cookbooks. Her latest is called “Pure Food” published by Whitecap fall 2007 . The birth of her product line is a culmination of many years of tasting , researching and determination. Paul RowanCo-Founder and Vice President of Design, Umbra Ltd.Graphic Design, George Brown College Paul Rowan designed all of the Umbra products in the early years. As the company developed and grew, he assumed more of a leadership role. Today, he manages the Umbra design team and translates developing design trends into practical and useful products. Although Rowan continues to design products himself, his main responsibility is directing Umbra's creative development. The Umbra collection has over 1,200 products, and Rowan has been directly involved in developing each of them. Les StroudHost, Cinematographer and Producer of the show SurvivormanMusic Industry Arts, Fanshawe College Les Stroud has successfully parlayed his three passions?music, filmmaking and outdoor adventure?to create the hit television series, Survivorman, of which he wrote the theme music, is the host, cinematographer and producer. GaldaCG Supervisor for TechnicolorAnimation, Centennial College T.J. has distinguished himself in the field of film, animation, and video games since the '90s.
