Tyndale is a trans-denominational, Christian university college and seminary that prepares leaders for the ministry, marketplace and global mission of the church. Tyndale offers a variety of degree programs in a wide range of disciplines at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology, the Software Developer is responsible for developing software and establishing systems to integrate and support Tyndale’s business processes while dictating coding standards and design methodologies. Responsibilities:Application Development•Create a comprehensive plan for system integration, and development to ensure the needs of Tyndale are met and contribute to the overall success of Tyndale’s organizational goals•Work with the Business Analyst on defining and implementing the essential core design features and functionalities that provide the framework for all business application and database development. •Develop, implement and maintain design features and functionalities •Develop custom application solutions as required Database Modification & Integration•Responsible for the daily operations related to Tyndale’s various institutional management systems and provide expert-level database support.•Ensure that Tyndale’s current database systems operate effectively; is responsible for developing related plug-in applications, reports and interfaces between the various systems.•Modify existing database systems and related integration in line with user needs and technological capability changes•Develop software solutions for evolving user needs•Consider solutions that integrate external data with various database systems to improve efficiency and customer service Customer Relationship Management•Develop good understanding of each department’s unique needs and address them as required•Develop and strengthen relationships with key Tyndale stakeholders•Respond to Help Desk requests related to business applications Qualifications A. REQUIRED•Proven experience in analyzing information processing or computation needs and the ability to plan and design applications.•At least 5 years direct work experience as a programmer/developer•Excellent programming experience in .NET, C#, XML•Demonstrated experience in SQL administration and programming•Troubleshooting skills to ‘proactively’ determine causes of operating errors and/or application malfunctions and take initiatives to solve them or provide workarounds•Ability to quickly gain an understanding of users’ needs with excellent communication and presentation skills•University degree or college diploma in the field of Computer Science or related technical experience with diploma/degree•Strong technical background and working experience with Windows, SQL, SSRS, Oracle and N-tier application models•Full understanding of relational database concepts and table structures and indices•A desire to preempt and creatively meet users needs and requirements•Full understanding of object oriented programming methodologyB. PREFERRED•Relevant experience in education institutions•Professional certification in database administration and/or business analysis•Oracle experience and experience programming in PHP•Microsoft SharePoint experience Please note, all applications will be reviewed but only those selected for interviews will be contacted.
