This year I am doing the 5K to support children’s programs at North York Community House. We work with newcomers, refugees, and children from low-income communities helping them settle into their new homes and connect with peers and the community.
Through educational, recreational, and holistic learning opportunities children learn to take care of their physical and mental health, build self-esteem, and develop leadership and social skills to help them navigate their lives with greater awareness and resilience.
The pandemic has placed tremendous strain on the physical, mental, and social well-being of children. Online schooling, physical distancing, increased screen-time, and isolation has contributed to loneliness, anxiety, and setbacks in their development.
NYCH’s children’s programs offer kids a safe and inclusive space to connect, express and process their emotions, stay healthy and active at home, and develop tools to build resilience. Your donation today will ensure that children continue to receive the support they need to not only survive this pandemic but thrive in their lives going forward. Thank you!
