TNS has decided, end of last year, to switch its flows with FOB Term because of the drifts that CIF had caused in terms of the massive increase in LCL, cost rebilling upon arrival and loss of control over the optimisation of our containers. Today, by refocusing our FOB flows on the main dispatch ports, we are hoping to regain control of transport organisation, our costs and our optimisation capacity.

As part of this reorganisation, we will endeavour to ensure that the supplier’s interest is protected as long as our requirements’ schedule and storage capacities are adhered to – and we therefore expect open, loyal support from our partners. Traders will have to take up their role as interface and point of contact between factories and forwarding agents again. As relations managers, they will have to put factories and forwarding agents in touch with each other, organise and steer these relations by providing all the necessary information for each party’s responsibilities in terms of order follow-up and data updating. In order to optimise flows and allow the best possible information sharing for each party, the TNS order number shall be the reference number that all the links involved in the order should know.

Consolidations will be constructed primarily following TNS and the forwarding agent’s initiative based on ETD PI, on our priorities and on our storage capacities. However, insofar as the information will have been transmitted to us upstream, we are ready to prepare on a single order all products manufactured in the same factory. This will generate savings at dispatch and upon arrival in terms of time, processing, follow-up, handling – as well as money, particularly regarding documents for CO and BL. We therefore ask traders to get back to us with an updated list of active products grouped according to dispatch factory – the confidentiality of which may, of course, be maintained.
In order to optimise and guarantee our consolidations we have also agreed with our forward agents on early closing. This way the only orders to be loaded will be those that have received the green light from customs,  those already delivered to the terminal or warehouse, and for which the measurement and order details will have been controlled with the information transmitted by traders. As such, we will avoid many of the problems we are currently experiencing with late deliveries, undelivered batches, failed closing, wrong packing but for which we have constructed optimisations and reserved special types of containers.

We therefore set great store by the dominating role that must once again be assumed by traders who will have to send reliable and updated information to TNS and forwarding agents: the packing of orders communicated by suppliers must correspond to reality and the information transmitted on the PI. In the event of a discrepancy casting doubt over consolidations, optimisations or the number or type of containers reserved, the supplier shall be liable to rebilling of the dead freight and late cancellation expenses for non-shipped containers. Should a product be unavailable, suppliers must, without fail, notify us so that we can adjust our needs and define the best solution.
