特朗普有点像绑架80万政府工作人员，向他的反对者叫板一样。给我的感觉像最近的新闻说，电厂的工人绑架市民威胁圣诞假日停电一样。牛B!!特朗普签署行政令：联邦政府将于12月24日关门媒体此前报道，如果白宫与国会在21日前不能就支出问题达成协议，那么大约四分之一的联邦政府运营将面临资金告罄，导致政府部分关闭。包括国土安全部、交通部、内政部、农业部等15个政府部门，将影响约80万政府工作人员。其中一半工作人员将面临暂时无偿工作的情况，另一半将回家。 报道称，在华盛顿上演的这场角力的背后，是特朗普要求拨款50亿美元，以便开始在美国和墨西哥边境筑墙。他起初承诺这笔钱让墨西哥人掏，现在却要求美国纳税人来支付。民主党和部分共和党人都对此持反对意见，认为耗资筑墙并不足以阻止非法移民的涌入。 在“关门”之后，对公共安全无关紧要的政府部门工作人员将被迫休假。在争议获得解决之前，被迫休假的以及继续工作的核心工作人员都拿不到薪水。 不过，美国政府也不会完全关门。被视为对联邦任务“必不可少的”公务员，仍必须履行自己的职责。
