阿尔伯塔省省长Jason Kenney在5月宣布他辞去省长职务后，Danielle Smith在10月6日联合保守党党领选举中获胜，成为阿尔伯塔省的下一任省长。

Smith在第六轮投票中获得了近54%的选票，击败了第二名候选人Travis Toews和其他五个竞争对手。
阿尔伯塔省新任女省长诞生！Danielle Smith成为阿尔伯塔省UCP的新领导人，并将成为阿尔伯塔省的省长！
阿尔伯塔省也成为加拿大历史上第一个拥有3位女性省长的省份。
同样是前野玫瑰党领袖的Brian Jean获得第三名。Rebecca Schulz排名第四，Todd Loewen排名第五，Rajan Sawhney排名第六，Leela Aheer排名第七。选举中124,000名合格选民中投出近85,000张选票。
她在获胜发言中充满杀气的说：阿尔伯塔将自己掌握自己的命运，而不是渥太华会规划我们的命运。我们不会被告知必须在身体里放什么才能工作或旅行。 我们不会因为向总理发出信号而使我们的资源陷入困境或逐渐消失！”
