http://www.canuckabroad.com/forums/why-is-it-so-hard-to-find-work-in-sydney-as-a-canadian-vt10814.html这是加拿大人的移民移居交流互助论坛 Hey guys!I was hoping someone in the sydney area that is a canadian citizen could help me out or give me some advice on this issue im having. I moved to Australia because my husband is a citizen and couldn't extend his visa in canada. I have a working visa subclass 417 and am in application for residency and am unable to find work. I have great references,2 diplomas, am skilled in a verity of work, i have a positive attitude and am always willing to take a challenge and learn. Ive literally applied for thousands of jobs on gum tree, seek and threw agencies like hays but no luck yet. I'm getting calls back for interviews, but as soon as they find out i have a working visa and do not have fully residency yet am denied with no explanation The type of work im going for is administration and customer service " call centers".If anyone else is having this issues or has any advice for me please share as id like to secure employment. My husband ended up getting a job the day after we came but the struggle for me is frustrating.-----------------HiUnfortunately, that's just the way it is. Employers are leery of anyone who doesn't hold permanent residency as they don't wish to invest time and money into someone who might have to leave the country. You might be more qualified than other applicants but if they are PR or citizens, they have the leading edge. Also, the economy is starting to go sour and there are more part time or casual jobs available than good full time jobs. It's tough starting over as a migrant in a new country and regardless of your qualifications and experience, some Australians are leery of 'foreigners.' You might have received a response or two that you didn't possess 'Australian experience' or that you are overqualified etc; it can be an excuse for xenophobia which is rampant in this country, even if it isn't transparent. Aussies prefer hiring other Aussies. Nationalism is dominant. You might have to take jobs that aren't up to your credentials or liking but once you gain some experience and references, the battle won't be so daunting. Consider yourself lucky that you are in Sydney and there is more work. Find a recruiter you can work with rather than just applying for work online. Do some volunteer work as that will be considered work, albeit non-paying work, as you will gain a job reference from it.Give yourself a couple of years until it sorts out. Good luck!其实出国生活对谁都是从零开始。我们每个人都已经很棒了!
