2.23. Covers of coils should resist the superficial category at application of effective voltage 14 kV.The resistance to the superficial category test is carried out by means of the adaptations providing the application of test voltage to a cover surface (it is shown on the drawings). Tests are carried out in the air environment, at air humidity not more than 80%, the temperature is 20±5ºС by voltage of an alternating current frequency 50 Hz from a source with capacity not less than 5 кVА. Test voltage is increased smoothly from zero up to 14 кV during 1 min, kept during 30 minutes, then smoothly reduced and switch off circuit. The superficial category (breakdown) on a cover surface is not allowable.
