· Background: white & Printed bar code should be black.
· “Quiet Zone” – adequate white space must be present on the left and right sides of the bar code or it will not scan, the minimum allowed is 0.25 inch.
· Weather – items exposed to the elements for storage or shipment must be bar coded using methods or materials that will not fade, detach or in any way become unable to be scanned.
· Print Quality – consistent well-defined lines and frequent testing of the scan ability of the printed bar code is highly recommended – inability to scan will result in fines.
· Human Readable Characters – beneath each bar code, a human readable representation of the digits of the bar code shall be printed.
· I 2 of 5 bar coded sides of the box need to be free of any other barcodes.
