Hey guys,Could you help to explain the CMYK 4C Process in English, with a professional way?
We are making plush toys, need sublimation fabric with CMYK. But our client is a little confused with something else, like inkjet. Little difficult for me to explain it clearly, so I need your help. Tks in advance.

In printing the fabric for these toys we use 4/c (four colors) process sublimation - this essentially works in exactly the same way as a printer prints a colored book. The 4 colors - CMYK - being Cyan - Magenta - Yellow - Black; thus we make just four plates and from these four plates we print full color repro of the art. In your case you have been giving us PMS spot color references which we have then translated into the closest repro possible using CMYK. If you were to prepare your art in 4/c separations then we could use your art directly to create the four plates.
In sublimation we print the reverse image in 4 color separation to a special paper which has high ink retention properties and use special sublimation inks of CMYK. We print to 6ft wide paper on the roll in a continuous process which then brings the printed side of the paper roll into direct contact with the material (also in 6ft wide rolls) and then use a combination of heat and pressure to "throw" the ink onto the material. The ink is effectively fused into the material resulting in a 100% colorfast bonding of the image into the textile. The plates for this process are 6ft wide engraved metal roller plates that can be reused over a period of years but are quite expensive at an average price in the region of US$500 each dependent on the diameter of the roller.
