Any cooking adventure involving heat，sharp knives, or operating appliances should be carefully supervised. Sharp knives are rarely needed, since plastic serrated knives will slice most produce items and are safe for even every very young children. Children will need to be cautioned when observing food in the oven or on the range burner, utensil handles should be turned toward the center of the range at all times because electric burners don’t always appear to be hot, children will need to learn how to identify when the burner is on by recognizing the position of the switch or by reading “on”,“off”,“high”, or “low” children must also be made aware that an electric burner remains hot for a while even after it has been turned off. 任何涉及高温、锋利刀具或家用电器的烹饪大冒险行为均应予以细心指导。由于塑料齿刀可切开大部分的物品，即便是对于小不点们来说也是很安全的，所以锋利刀具便很少需要用到了。孩子们在使用烤箱或可调式电炉进行煮食时要注意：任何时候炊具手柄均应转到调节器的中心位置，因为电炉有时候是看不出来冷热的。孩子们要学会通过辨认开关的位置或懂得“开”、“关”、“高”或“低”等标识字样，来判断电炉是否在运作。孩子们还必须知道，电炉在停止运作之后一段时间内，还是会很烫的。对于正在学习烹饪的小孩子们来说，这些都是很重要的健康和安全教程。
