今天收到南非客户邮件， 当地清关遇到了麻烦， 需要VDN 和 customs code， 我从事外贸工作2年多， 也有出口过南非， 但是没有听到过VDN， 以下是客户邮件原文：A value determination number is related to valuation queries from customs. Often customs will detain consignments for valuation because they feel that the costs of the items are too low and they think that the client is declaring a lower value to avoid additional Duty & Vat. The importer will then have to produce documents to prove that the values are correct. In order to avoid valuation queries from customs some Importers apply for VDN (Valuation Determination Numbers) for specific suppliers. Once approved customs will issue a VDN and customs code for that specific supplier.
With regards to this consignment the VDN and customs code is not supplied and customs is requesting it which means that the importer currently has one on hand.
