火焰迅速蔓延，摧毀了兩座建築物，並引發了長達數小時的救援。

瞬即蔓延至隔鄰同樣兩層高的溫哥華街道教堂。
該教堂為區內無家可歸者提供膳食及外展服務近三十年。

溫哥華消防和救援服務表示，晚上9點左右開始發現大火，到達後，已經有一棟建築物完全被火焰卷入。
現場的火焰、濃煙坍塌危險讓消防員無法冒險，不得不采取防御措施，溫哥華消防和救援服務局局長Brian Bertuzzi說。

消防全力阻止火勢蔓延至鄰近另一座建築物，事件中沒有人受傷。

消防說，有兩座建築物嚴重焚毀，但這兩棟樓裡都沒有人，消防及時阻止火勢蔓延至隔鄰另一座建築物七層高的Maple酒店。
