Located in the southeast sea off Fuding City (福鼎市), Ningde City (宁德市) of Fujian, Dayushan Island (大嵛山岛) is a part of four tourist attractions of Taimu Mountain (太姥山). The island, known for its epitome of green hills, crystal clear lakes, vast grassland and peaceful deep blue sea, is ranked as one of China's top 10 most beautiful islands by Chinese National Geography Magazine.The island, 7.7 kilometres from east to west and 2.76 kilometres from north to south, covers an area of 21.5 square kilometers and a coastline of 31.97 kilometres. The island has 36 bays, large and small, and 20 hills of varying heights.
As the highest island in Fujian, the island reaches 541.4 metres above sea level. At 200 metres above sea level, there are two natural lakes which are about 1,000 metres apart. Fed by their springs, the lakes never run dry and their clear water is sweet. Holiday makers can often see turtles emerge from the lake for a rest. The surrounding hill slopes are quite gentle, with occasional patches of reed plants.
The green hills, blue waters and rocks together present a charming natural picture. There are large tracts of grassland too, covering 600 hectares in total. These features give the island the name 'Magic Island in the East China Sea', 'Tianshan Mountain in South China' and 'Sky Lake in the Sea'.
Hiking Schedule:
D1: 2013.6.9
19:30-20:00: Gathering place: People’s Square (19:30) or Line 1 Lianhua Road (20:00)
20:00: We will start to leave on time. So don’t be late.
20:00-6:00: On the way… It’s about 7-8 hours to get there. And we will sleep in the bus. And the bus will stop at somewhere for 2-3 hours for the drivers to sleep a bit.
D2: 2013.6.10
6:00: Arrived at Sansha town, get off the bus, you will feel the morning wind from the see. Nice feelings~~ We will find a restaurant for breakfast or you can bring some food.
8:00: Buy some food for BBQ or cooking for the coming two days we will stay in the island.
9:00: We will take 10 mins by bus to the dock and go to the beautiful Dayushan Island by boating.
9:30: It will take about 40 mins to arrive the island. Just enjoy the good scene, the extensive sea and blue sky~
12:00: Getting off the boat, we have to hike a bit on the green hills and getting on the top of the hills to see the vast sea. And we will have some lunch here.
14:00: After lunch, we will hike to the small sky lake for camping. After setting down the tents, swimming time or playing games on the beach.
17:00: Find a good place to wait the sunset~~ sunset in the sea, amazing~
19:00: Time for BBQ~ and then entertainment hours. There will have an interesting game, just expecting~
22:00: Peaceful night~ Just watching the stars with your good mood.
D3: 2013.6.11
5:30: Get up for the sunrise. You can’t miss the sunrise on the sea.
6:30: After the sunrise, you can back to your tent again to sleep or you can enjoy the morning sea, walking on the beach.
8:00: Breakfast time~ can cook by us.
9:00: After breakfast, bring some food for lunch, we will hike around the lake, green hills, crystal clear lakes, vast grassland and peaceful deep blue sea~
12:00: Stop whatever we are and for lunch. Still hiking around the lake.
16:00: Back the camping place and then enjoy your swimming time if you like. Or have a rest on the beach.
18:30: Start to cook our dinner~
20:00: Playing hours~ any funny games to share? Waiting for your suggestion~
22:00: Sleeping time if you are tired~
D4: 2013.6.12
8:00: Breakfast time~ and enjoy our last time on the beach~
10:00: We have to leave this beautiful island~ Go to the dock.
11:30: Back to the sansha town, find a restaurant to enjoy some seafood~
13:00: Have to back SH~
Transportation: By bus
Accommodation: Local Inn or tent
Cost: 500RMB (Deposit: 200RMB)
Cost including: All the transportation fees and driver’s allowance; Leaders’ allowances and all the organizing fees; Utility equipment; Professional outdoor insurance.
Note: Accommodation (without tent) and dinner cost are not included.
