This is without doubt the most challenging time we have ever faced and an exceptionally difficult time for all. Like you, we’ve been watching the COVID-19 situation carefully and trying to discern the best path forward – there is no roadmap to navigate through this unprecedented period in history and we appreciate the support you continue to show as we manage through this together.Whist we truly believe our proposition has a valuable part to play in our customers lives, especially through these difficult times, we must now play our part to encourage social distancing for the safety and wellbeing of our colleagues, our customers and the wider community. As such, despite not being instructed to do so, we have made the decision to close our stores from 5pm tonight until further notice. For the time being, we will continue to stay connected and service our customers via our website.
We hold a deep sense of responsibility to our unbelievable front line store colleagues, our customers and to you our suppliers. You are all a critical member of The Works family and in this moment, we are thinking of you too, as we understand our decision impacts your business.
Our hope is to reopen our doors as soon as possible, but our number one priority is keeping people safe whilst still planning to have a viable business when we all come out the other side.
While our stores are closed, our teams are still working hard in the background:
· Our support centre team is operational, with most colleagues now working from home.
· Our logistics team will continue to move shipped goods globally and domestically into our DC but with support needed from you.
· Our ecommerce team is busier than ever, fulfilling orders for The Works.co.uk website and again, we will need support from you, keeping the stock flowing in as we need it.
The harsh reality of our 540 store estate closed and in lockdown will mean we need to urgently review our stock inbound, FOB, DDP and domestic as we simply will not have the capacity in our DC to hold stock indefinitely. Each of the buyers will be working on all orders placed, to make decisions to either take stock, reduce quantities, split orders or move orders along to another time. We will do everything in our power to mitigate any impact to you.
We will continue to monitor the situation and commit to staying in close communication with you as we navigate this new reality. If you have questions at any point, please don’t hesitate to contact me or any of my buying team with queries regarding your orders.
